Shopping

In 1953, Treppenstrasse came into being in Kassel. It was the first pedestrian zone in Germany and connects the main station to the city centre to this day. More than 600 specialist stores and 3 shopping centres in the pedestrian zone make Kassel’s city centre a popular destination for shopping-lovers. The great variety of specialist stores ranges from sports clothing to eveningwear. The city centre’s good connections to bus, RegioTram and tram lines, as well as the 10,000 parking spaces in the city itself and the short distances on foot, make shopping in Kassel’s city centre a pleasant experience.

But it is not just Kassel’s city centre that provides outstanding shopping opportunities. The dez shopping centre in Kassel’s Niederzwehren quarter is, with more than 70 specialist stores, one of the most popular shopping facilities in northern Hesse. RATIO_Land in Baunatal offers 55 specialist stores for an optimum shopping experience. The architecture, with the 3,000 m2 backlit glass façade, provides a real highlight on your shopping trip.
For bargain hunters, there are Puma and Lloyd outlet stores in Kirchheim, as well as a Trigema test store.

The countless attractive specialist stores, which are steeped in tradition, in the picturesque half-timbered towns of northern Hesse must, of course, not be forgotten.
